Introducing Google Pay at The Mutual Bank

Today, The Mutual Bank has introduced Google Pay for members.

This announcement comes one month after launching Apple Pay.

CEO, Geoff Seccombe, said the introduction of Google Pay is another milestone achievement in The Mutual Bank’s ongoing product development and innovation strategy.

“The Mutual Bank is focused on offering members a range of convenient, secure banking products and services,” Mr Seccombe said.

“Digitally, this includes Internet Banking, our mobile app, Apple Pay, and now Google Pay.”

He said that these digital services are about giving members a choice.

“Members can continue to bank using their preferred method, whether that is online, at a local branch, or over the phone via Telephone Banking or our local call centre.”

“The Mutual Bank is about using technology to be a leader among member-owned financial institutions in giving members the best possible banking experience.”

Google Pay and Apple Pay are easy to set up and have appropriate security and privacy measures. COVID-19 has made contactless payments even more important.

Mr Seccombe said Google Pay and Apple Pay can be a great back-up way to pay if you don’t have your Mutual Visa Card with you.

“You don’t need to hand your card to someone else or touch buttons, so it is very COVID safe.”

“Card numbers are encrypted and not stored on the device or on Google or Apple servers.”
